Niger's Republic Day festivities once again illuminated by Fonroche Lighting
After Tahoua in 2017, it's the city of Zinder's turn to get sustainable street lighting!

Niger's national Republic Day, which is held in a different city each year, is being hosted in the southeast regional capital of Zinder on 18 December 2018 This year's festival marks the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Niger Republic. Around 100,000 guests are expected to attend the symbolic day of celebrations, which includes a host of sporting and cultural activities.
In the run-up to this special event, Zinder has benefited from modernization work such as new housing, high-performance Internet service and road upgrades, including new public lighting. Investments total around 50 billion CFA francs.
For the second year running, Fonroche lighting was selected by the Organization Committee to install sustainable lighting in time for the celebrations. Several hundreds of off-grid, single and dual crosspiece solar streetlights have been installed. For the people of Zinder, this means enhanced safety thanks to public lighting 365 nights a year, while the authorities can look forward to zero electricity bills.
In 2017, the host city Tahoua, which is slightly further north, was equipped with 500 Fonroche solar streetlights. Niger's President Mahamadou Issoufou has made the modernization of the country's main cities a top priority.Our latest news
