April 28, 2025, marked a major milestone for Central Africa with the official inauguration of the Friendship Bridge, an emblematic 620-meter-long structure spanning the Logone River and connecting the cities of Yagoua (Cameroon) and Bongor (Chad).

This large-scale project for both countries is part of a broader regional integration strategy aimed at improving the mobility of goods and people, facilitating access to new economic opportunities, and strengthening the cultural and social ties between these two neighboring nations.

Solar lighting powering regional development

To ensure the bridge remains safe and functional both day and night, more than a hundred Fonroche Lighting solar streetlights have been installed along the bridge, its connecting roads, and key intersections.

This solar street lighting solution provides a sustainable alternative to the traditional electrical lighting, dependent of the grid. Designed to illuminate strategic areas without requiring a grid connection, it offers continuous lighting thanks to its energy storage capacity and optimized autonomy for several days without sunlight.

Based on an intelligent and autonomous system, Fonroche’s technology ensures energy efficiency, reliability, and durability, even under harsh weather conditions. It is a solution perfectly suited to supporting economic and social activity in areas where traditional electrical infrastructure is still lacking.

A project that connects territories and symbolizes progress

During the inauguration ceremony, presided over by Joseph Dion Ngute, Prime Minister of Cameroon, and his Chadian counterpart Allamaye Halina, both leaders emphasized the symbolic value of the bridge, which reflects the shared ambition to break down physical and cultural barriers and move forward together toward a common future.

"This bridge is a reflection of our historical and cultural ties, of the brotherhood that unites Chad and Cameroon."

Technical and financial partners applauded the commitment of both governments to address development challenges through innovative and sustainable solutions.
