Senegal selects Fonroche Lighting to install solar streetlights along the road to the airport

Senegal's new International Airport in Dakar was inaugurated by President Macky Sall last December 7th. A decade after work began, this major development project aimed at energizing the economy is destined to become the "leading air transportation hub in West Africa".

As part of this dynamic modernization drive, the Senegalese authorities have chosen to install solar lighting to illuminate the roads leading to the new airport.

Senegal awarded this substantial contract to Fonroche Lighting, Europe's leading provider of solar public lighting solutions.

As a result, 160 off-grid solar streetlights have been installed along the roads and roundabouts around the Blaise Diagne International Airport, providing powerful illumination as well as optimum safety for drivers and passengers on their way to and from the airport. In line with the global shift towards more environmentally sustainable solutions, the project reflects a commitment to minimizing the Dakar airport's carbon footprint.

This is not Fonroche Lighting's first airport project, as the French firm was already selected to install lighting at Kuwait International Airport a few years ago. With thousands of off-grid solar streetlights installed across the continent, Fonroche Lighting is rapidly emerging as the number one choice in Africa.

This comes as no surprise, since the firm is the only supplier in the world to guarantee highly effective illumination all year round, thanks in particular to its Power365 battery, specially designed to withstand very high temperatures.

Following on from another major contract in Ziguinchor, this latest success marks the beginning of a long-term strategic relationship between Fonroche Lighting and Senegal.
